Feed water softening for steam generation
Chriwa Wasseraufbereitungstechnik GmbH supplied an ion exchanger for softening the Gräfelfingen municipal water to supply the steam generation in the DOEMENS technical centre.
NUMBERS & FACTS:
• Location: Gräfelfing, Germany
• Capacity: 500 l/d
• Year of construction: 2021
The system consists of an ion exchanger made of corrosion-resistant plastic (polypropylene) with individual valve control and plastic piping. The front circuit diagram reflects the design and functional principle of a large-scale ion exchanger system on a small scale and is equipped with pneumatically controlled membrane valves.
The system flow is recorded and controlled by means of an inductive flow meter.
For regeneration, the compact ion exchanger has a salt solution tank with level monitoring and jet pump.
All process steps are automatically controlled by the integrated, freely adaptable and expandable S7 control system and visualised on the operating panel. The system is designed to soften 500 l/h of city water with a total hardness of 20 °dH to a residual hardness of < 0.1 °dH.
In order to provide an optimal communication with the customer and also to fulfill the local requirements in each case, the native speaking specialists were also involved in this project during commissioning and training phases.
