Mixing and equalization tank

Industrial wastewater is often subject to significant fluctuations in both volume and composition. Production-related rinsing and cleaning processes can lead to substantial changes in pH, temperature, and organic load throughout the day. These fluctuations place specific demands on subsequent wastewater treatment stages.

To ensure a consistent and reliable feed to the treatment stages, the wastewater is first collected and homogenized in mixing and equalization tanks. Depending on the process, surface aerators or membrane-based pressure aerators are used to mix the wastewater and supply it with oxygen. In contrast, if the subsequent treatment process is anaerobic, aeration is omitted; instead, top-entry or side-entry agitators are used to ensure uniform mixing.

Furthermore, equalization tanks can be used for the targeted conditioning of the wastewater. By adjusting the pH level or temperature as needed, optimal conditions can be established for the subsequent treatment steps.
