The waste water originates from various treatment processes in production, such as pre-treatment in sterilisation separators and as a result of product losses due to faulty batches or during rinsing and cleaning processes.

The waste water is mainly characterised by a high organic load resulting from the high concentrations of fats and proteins in the milk.

A combination of mechanical pre-treatment, a mixing and equalisation tank, flotation to remove fats and oils, and subsequent aerobic biological treatment with phosphorus precipitation reduces the highly polluted but readily biodegradable substances in the wastewater to such an extent that it can be safely discharged directly into the receiving water. Turnkey project for an effluent treatment plant in the dairy industry in Bavaria

CUSS GmbH was nominated as a general contractor for the design and construction of an effluent treatment plant for a producer of dairy products in the south-eastern part of Germany. A main focus was on the civil works of the operational building and the required concrete process tank.
