Meat processing
The meat processing industry is one of the largest consumers of water and thus at the same time a large producer of wastewater in the food industry.
Companies with their own slaughtering have waste water with partly high solid contents (rumen contents of ruminants) as well as increased nitrogen and phosphate values. A reduction of these parameters is absolutely necessary to protect water bodies that are used as receiving waters from eutrophication (overfertilisation). A combination of biological anaerobic/aerobic processes in CUSS wastewater treatment plants ensures the necessary nutrient reduction on the one hand and creates the possibility of biogas production on the other. The gas is purified according to the requirements and can either be used directly for energy in the company or fed into the public gas grid.
